What do Bigfoot, fairies, witches, women in white, trolls, UFOs, and other entities of high strangeness have in common? This book, Where the Footprints End: High Strangeness and the Bigfoot Phenomenon, Volume I by Joshua Cutchin and Timothy Renner, compares all of these and finds many similarities.

This is the first of two volume and I almost wished they’d released both at once, as there are multiple references in this book to subjects in the second. The authors don’t pretend to have any answers, but draw attention to compelling evidence that suggests connections ancient stories from Europe and Asia to the Bigfoot and UFO phenomenon.

The connections are interesting and suggest to me that some kind of human unconscious thread involved in these phenomena. Whether we are creating the phenomena, or some people are sensitive to a thinness between “the worlds”, I can’t say right now. I’m leaning towards humans creating or attracting the phenomena in some way right now. Ask me again in a week and I might say differently.

One thing I would have liked to see is more coverage of African phenomena and how it corresponds to the Eurasian/North and South American reports. However, overall, this is an interesting book and one I intend to return to after doing some more reading on the subject.
